I’m one baby step closer to running the Los Angeles Marathon! Special shoes, cotton-free socks and dry-weave shorts that are soooo cute! If you are thinking about running, this place: Top to Top in Santa Monica, will save your life with perfectly diagnosed shoes. Today I learned my left foot is a half size larger than my right! How crazy is that?! Apparently it’s common. This is my plunge straight into crazy athleticism. All of the major athletes I know can overcome obstacles with far greater tact and calm endurance. Let’s see what this 26+ mile race brings as a lesson…. Meanwhile, if you can recommend some marathon running mixes, I’m off to get an iPod shuffle…..xx Dana

Powerful big blue words. Forgiveness is one of the signposts of HUGE changes in life.
Getting high alkaline water at Beyond O2 on Main Street…my experiment: a few months of this water to fuel my marathon training. Normal water is ph5 or so…. And the high alkaline water is 9.5. It’s supposedly a zillion times better than Electrolyte Water, and when it’s all said and done, at 2.60 a gallon, it’s way cheaper too! (though it’s expensive to start: about 47 bucks for a glass jar and a dispenser…but your first five gallons of water is free!) High alkaline water: more on this soon. I have high hopes!!!!
A piece of a rare interview in The Brooklyn Rail with Robert Ryman, one of my favorite artists, perhaps because he’s so accessibly inaccessible!——> Interviewer <Rail>: Is there a transcendental aspect in your work? Ryman: I don’t even know what that means. Rail: How about the notion of the sublime? Ryman: Oh, no. It’s nothing like that. I’m not involved in that at all. Rail: Were you brought up with a hint of spiritual leaning? Ryman: Oh, no. I quickly got away from that.

homes are like diaries that you can walk into…
FAKING SPACES: Psychologist Sam Gosling (author of SNOOP) on Faking Spaces. Oh what a cool psychologist! According to Mr Gosling, its really hard for people to “fake” who they are by making their homes look a certain way… Great feng shui doesn’t create a space that is a veneer—- it is integrated into your lifestyle and your needs intrinsically, tailored to you authentically. I wonder if Sam Gosling realizes he’s a cross between James Bond and a feng shui guru.
The NEWLY DESIGNED Oval Office

WHITE HOUSE FENG SHUI: Welcome to the Michael Smith-designed Oval Office, featured in the New York Times in an article entitled “The Audacity of Taupe.” No, your tax dollars did not pay for this. Someone’s dollars did… and I must say I am a bit perplexed. Its not just the colors that are blah and overly-Earthy, its the fact that the shapes and materials are wishy-washy, non-stately… devoid, even… drained… of energy. Plus, the center of gravity of the room is askew, and, is it my imagination, or does the seal on the carpet face AWAY from visitors? Its such a strange commentary on this country and its “image”… there is great Contemporary art on loan to the White House, yet its oval office is somewhat Sears/JC Penny floor model…
Oh, how I’d love to do a bit of restyling on this Oval Office feng shui!
