What a cool lamp! Motion, nature and gravity along with a hit of fire all in one. Sure its not revolutionary design, but, folks, it is actually & truly within reach. West Elm!!! (via coco+kelly)

Exercises to Get Your Energy- And Life- In Line

I have been poking around and finally uncovered a book- Feng Shui and Health by Nancy SantoPietro-  that delves deep into the relationships between feng shui and the body’s physical energy centers or “chakras”. Just like the bagua map correlates with certain areas of your life, the chakras correspond to your life and its issues. In essence- your body and your home mirror your life, and vice versa.  To optimize the flow, its pretty necessary to get that physical energy in a line. While we can feng shui your place to get that “chakra flow” in order… one easy way to start is to work a few exercise into your routine that get the chakras open and balanced. THESE EXERCISES are simple and practical;  let me know how they work for you!

Joan Mitchell is the image I get when I think of Kandinsky’s awesome piece of art historical (and life-important) text, “Concerning the Spiritual in Art.”

Do you have a list of things you have always wanted to do (like running a marathon, jumping out of a plane, etc)- that some call “a bucket list”? Do you do what is on your list?

(This week its Amy Sillman’s Tortoise/Hare. We all know who wins that race. Don’t believe the fast-track hype- humility, hard work and steady progress always win in the end!)

You are a creator; you create with your every thought. You often create by default, for you are getting what you are giving your attention to wanted or unwanted but you know by how it feels if what you are getting (creating) is what you are wanting or if it is not what you are wanting. (Where is your attention focused?)

What a pleasant little library! The only thing perhaps nicer would be actual reading chairs that are comfortable to read in, and a bit of something soft and plush underfoot by the chairs, as needed… or this can stand alone, depending on how the room is to be used….

Is it just me, or does this remind you of some terrible 80’s movie? There are some great separate and individual elements composing this room, but color schemes can evoke memory as poignantly as scent can evoke memory. This color scheme is from a video store in Secaucus, New Jersey in 1981.
Epic in its failure, this color scheme is not alone. The peach and turquoise “sunset southwest” color palette, the black, white and primary-colors of the mid-80’s Nintendo-era, the horrifying chocolate brown and pink anything that is the early 90’s… And the list goes on, and on, and on…
