YOUR OWN PERSONALIZED CAR WASH TREE!: I haven’t found a Design*Sponge DIY that I dig as much as this one in quite a while.
While you don’t need matchy-matchy furnishings, missing a table on one side of a sofa in a case like this is like missing a leg on a table—- the whole thing falls crooked… (via sfgirlbybay)
Brilliant art books on the cheap…!
via hydeordie:
Since I like to whine and lament about what I can’t afford, I thought I would do a little midweek pick-me-up of what I can. And share it with you. Because I’m kind and generous and so on, and so on…
- My Name Is Charles Saatchi and I’m An Artoholic < $10 AND it’s from Phaidon..whodathunkit?
- Taschen has this whole section of books for around $10, this weekend I got one on Conceptual Art, Video Art and Gothic Art, they were actually on sale so I got 3 for $20. Steal!
- Antony Gormley for under $20? Why not!
- It’s a Curating Book Bonanza over here at Amazon.com, all these are under $20 and awesome at the same time!
- Helmut Newton: A Gun for Hire for $6…I’ll race you.
- Picasso for less than $4, this is thievery!
- Antony Gormley: Between You and Me is going for $45ish, but considering some people are selling one of the editions for $1000+ I think that this is a bargain if I have ever seen one.

Extortion and Trickery In Furniture Sales
Back to THIS topic again, with an update on the store that is trying to rob me. I just learned that they have an F rating at the Better Business Bureau, explaining how they use lies and unfair, illegal and harmful business practices as a “norm”.
Lesson #1- before you do anything major, check it out at the Better Business Bureau!
All-Nighters: A series of essays on insomnia (New York Times)
At one am and nowhere near done with work, its a great time to read a few essays!
vis psychotherapy:
I completely forgot to mention this short series that was running last week on the New York Times Opinion blog, focused entirely around sleep and insomnia. The link above will take you to all the essays, and they’re all equally worth reading!
Excerpt:
While in theory “sleep hygiene” makes sense, in today’s culture, which affords no time for relaxation, it’s hard to put into practice. We’re on the computer at all hours and then we snuggle with our Blackberries. Our kids are even more hyperactive, texting way past their bedtimes, although today even the concept of “bedtime” sounds quaint. To compensate for being so tired in the mornings, they eat caffeinated foods, gulp energy drinks, and pop Adderall and Ritalin…As the anthropologist Matthew Wolf-Meyer notes, “If a society can’t rest, how can it sleep?”
Feng Shui Q & A
Q: How do I improve my love life?
A: Tough one to be comprehensive about without having more of a talk, and I’d hate to be too general, so in lieu of all of that I am going to go out on a limb and say “work on you.” Meaning? In feng shui, the areas of wisdom & relationships are interdependent. The more you love and know yourself, the better you will get on with a partner. Pick up a journal, get into a spiritual practice more if you have one or want one, indulge your hobbies and interests. Explore, dive-in, buy that Canon Rebel you’ve always wanted and passionately take photos at the Coffee Bean, hop on a plane to Marfa, get a Phd in YOU. Not only will you find yourself happier, the equation is—- Self-knowledge/wisdom= better relationships/better love life. Good luck to you & have a ton of fun!!!
