What is missing here that makes this fairly cool room flat, dull and empty…without “click”? Elements are missing, specifically fire & metal, while the elements that predominate- earth and water- oppose each other to create, metaphorically, mud.
Where to go from here? Moving the chairs and ottoman away from the fire a few feet, situate them on a lush, possibly cheveron patterned predominantly white rug, perhaps (adds fire/metal/wood), add a round, impressive metal serving tray on the ottoman (metal), mix the dark purple flowers with radiant oranges (more fire)… Yes, anything and everything, subtle but important, to create the elemental “click” that takes a room out of mud and into harmony.
